Obituary of Delia Iglesia Llano

Please share a memory of Delia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Delia Iglesia Llano, 92, passed away on December 11, 2024. Delia was born on January 3, 1932, in Havana, Cuba, to her mother Maria Iglesias-Rodriguez and father Genaro Iglesias. She married the love of her life, Jose Antonio Llano, on October 22, 1960, and together they raised their son, Jose (Joe) Jr.

Delia is survived by her beloved husband, Jose; their son, Joe, and his wife, Lizeth; and her two granddaughters, Tiffany and Taylor. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. Delia was a retired EEG technician at St. James Hospital in Newark, NJ. After leaving Newark, she lived in Atlantic Highlands for over 30 years. During her time in Atlantic Highlands, she was an active member of the senior citizen community, the St. Agnes Church Seniors Club, and served as president of the Knitting Club, where they created and donated goods to people in need. Delia prided herself on never using the word "hate" and cooking the most delicious Cuban food. Her life was truly special.

A memorial service to celebrate Delia's life will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 9:45 AM at St. Agnes Church, 103 Center Ave, Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716. The family will be present at 9:00 AM to welcome attendees.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.

Delia's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers, especially the hospice nurses and personnel at Sunrise in Shrewsbury, who provided support during her final days. Her warmth and kindness will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
