Kathleen Wigginton Obituary

Kathleen (Beirne) Wigginton, age 83, died on October 12, 2024 at Riverview Medical Center surrounded by family. She was born in Jersey City, lived in Atlantic Highlands for over 60 years, and recently resided in Middletown.


She attended St. Agnes Elementary School, Star of the Sea Academy (class of 1958) and in 1964, married William Wigginton. They were blessed with 3 children and 5 grandchildren.


Kate was a caring, selfless, loving mother and grandmother. She was the Court Administer with the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Court for many years. Her other passions included going to the beach, camping with her family, and giving back to the community. She volunteered for Atlantic Highlands Recreation, Atlantic Highlands Shade Tree Commission, and Riverview Medical Center. She loved spending time at Ship Ahoy Beach Club and wintering in Jensen Beach, FL.


Kate was predeceased by her husband, William. She is survived by her son, Craig (Nanette) Wigginton of Ridgewood, NJ; her daughter, Lisa (Peter) Novak of Middletown, NJ; her son, Keith Wigginton of Middletown, NJ; her five grandchildren: Laura (Wes), Julia (Emmit), and James Wigginton and Matthew and Brian Novak; and her grand-dogs. She is also survived by her sister, Claire (Bob) Fitzsimmons; her brother, Kevin (Patricia) Beirne; and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.


The family traditions that Kate began will be carried on by her loving children and grandchildren, including annual camping trips, love for the beach, and passion for the environment.


Visitation will be held at Posten-McGinley funeral home in Atlantic Highlands, NJ on October 16, 2024 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
