Obituary of Richard Donald Connor

Richard Donald Connor, 77, passed away on February 21, 2024 in Red Bank, NJ, with his wife, Rita, by his side.

Richard was born on January 8, 1947 in Long Branch, NJ to Adelaide and Jack Connor. He grew up in Navesink and graduated from Middletown High School in 1965. Richard moved to Rumson, NJ in 1978 where he lived with his wife and children.

Richard worked for many years as a master carpenter and his craftsmanship can be seen throughout the local community. He loved motorcycles, was a life long New York Yankees fan, a talented artist, and later in life became an avid cyclist. He could often be found riding on Sandy Hook when not spending time with his grandchildren. He especially loved attending all their sports and activities. Richard also took great pride in the fact that he shared a birthday with his only grandson, Declan. In recent years, Richard enjoyed taking drives out on the Hook with Rita.  

Richard was known as Dad, pop-pop and Uncle Rich. Richard leaves behind his wife, Rita Connor. He also leaves behind his son Ian Connor, wife Maura, and daughter Katie Desiere, husband Chris. Richard also leaves behind four grandchildren: Kiera and Felicity Connor and Declan and Delaney Desiere. He was predeceased by his sister Sandra McGavin and his parents Jack and Adelaide Hallam Connor.  

A visitation and memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Posten’s from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
