Obituary of Michael Gerard Stine

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Michael Gerard Stine, 63 of Atlantic Highlands, NJ died on June 18, 2023. He was born on June 19, 1960, and was raised in Plainfield and Piscataway, NJ. He was the son of the late H. Douglas Stine and Virginia Moore Stine.

Mike graduated from Piscataway High School in 1979 where he was a skilled runner and member of the Track team. He enjoyed watching and playing sports and attended numerous track and field events with his late father, H. Douglas Stine, who also enjoyed the sport.

After high school, Mike attended Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD., and he served a year in the U.S. Navy. For the past thirty years Mike had worked in landscaping and construction. He was a communicant of St Agnes Church in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

For those who knew Mike well, it was obvious that he loved music. When you spoke with him on the phone, he would mention a couple of the great Rock or country songs he listened to that day. He would then burst into one of the songs while on the phone with you as if he was performing on stage, just like he did when he was a little kid strumming on his play guitar at the NJ shore. He always made his siblings laugh. He was a sentimental, kind, and caring soul.

He is survived by his siblings, H. Douglas Stine Jr. and his wife, Ellen of Sarasota, FL, John Stine and his wife, Janet of Sterling VA, Janet Powell and her husband, Steve of Kennebunkport, ME, Joseph Stine and his wife Mary, of Manasquan, NJ, Angela Stine George of Westerville, Ohio, and his two Aunts, Sister Mary Faith Moore and Evelyn Moore Conway of Watchung, NJ, in addition to nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family is planning a private memorial service in celebration of Michael’s life in September at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ
