Kathleen Vaughan of Manalapan, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, 5/29/2022 at Centra State Hospital in Freehold, NJ. Kathy was born on 10/01/1950 in Red Bank, NJ to William Vaughan and Jane Woodward. She also had a brother, Brian Vaughan. Her grandmother, Helen was instrumental in her upbringing and supported her until she moved into the Arc of Monmouth’s Church Lane group home in Manalapan. Kathy loved living with her five housemates and was affectionately known as the “mother hen” of the home. She made sure that everyone was where they needed to be, was feeling okay, and had whatever they needed. She was sure to ask about peers who were out of the home due to being in the hospital.

She attended the Arc of Monmouth’s Western Monmouth day program in Morganville, NJ where she worked for many years as a member of the cleaning crew. During her time on the cleaning crew, she was known for following behind a peer whom she found to be attractive. Prior to participating at Western Monmouth, she received years of vocational training at the Work opportunity center in Long Branch, NJ and was employed by Wawa.

Kathy enjoyed crocheting, watching old westerns, bowling, drinking soda and eating pizza and pasta, reading the paper and clipping coupons, attending dances and parties, shopping, and taking care of her “Dolly”.

Kathy has built many meaningful relationships with her loving housemates and staff members at Church Lane and various Arc of Monmouth personnel.

Kathy will be dearly missed and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
