Susan Cacioppe, 59, passed away on January 25, 2022.

Susan was raised in West Orange, NJ, and moved to the Jersey shore as an adult, living in Brick and finally Manchester. She graduated from Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA with a degree in Occupational Therapy and enjoyed working in her field for over 25 years. Susan volunteered for several organizations focusing on children in need and also became a foster mother. She served as an Advocate and Peer Leader with CASA of Ocean County, an organization that provides court-appointed special advocates for foster children. In 2018, Susan was awarded CASA Advocate of the year.

Susan is survived by her parents Hope (nee Hampson) and James Grimes of Atlantic Highlands, and Raymond and Carol Cacioppe of Pompton Plains; sisters Jill and husband Neil Horowitz of Ocean, Courtney Gaccione of West Orange, and Jamie and husband Mark Ritchie of Atlantic Highlands; nephews and niece Vito, Joseph, Luke, Will, and Morgan; and foster daughter Kiannah.

Susan had an independent and resilient spirit and was a devoted friend to many. She loved the creativity of crocheting, sewing, and baking. Susan was an avid reader and enjoyed taking her beloved dogs for a walk on the boardwalk.

A celebration of life mass will be held Saturday, February 5, 11 am, St. Agnes R.C. Church, Atlantic Highlands. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CASA of Ocean County:
