Linda Hanley, 77 of Highlands, NJ passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, August 18, 2026.

Linda was born in Newark, NJ to Walton and Mildred Goleman (deceased) on May 22,1949.

The family moved to Highlands, NJ in 1951, and Linda remained a Highlands resident for the majority of her life. She graduated from Henry Hudson Regional High School, Highlands in 1967. She went on to work in various capacities in administration, real estate, legal and estate planning and more. She was also a dedicated volunteer in the Highlands Elementary School Board, New Jersey Education Association (NJEA), Highlands Fire Auxiliary, and the National Association for Legal Support Professionals (NALS).

Linda enjoyed living “at the beach” and could often be found throughout her life, sitting on her deck with a glass of wine, taking in the view of the town, the sound of gulls flying overhead, the smell of the salty sea air, and undoubtedly a dog at her feet.

Linda was devoted to her partner, Richard White of Highlands, daughters, Michelle Diebold Hayes (Tracy), Brunswick, ME; Dawn Diebold Koch (Ron), Oldenburg, IN; Tara Diebold Hutchins (Justin), Charlestown, RI; son Bob Diebold, Highlands, NJ, and her grandchildren Maddie, Cami, Oriah, Braden, Carlo, Josie, and Kayden.

She was also a secondary “mom” to her children’s partners and many friends throughout the years, opening her home and her heart to “anyone needing a place to crash.”

Visitation will be held at Posten-McGinley Funeral Home, Atlantic Highlands, NJ on Sunday, August 23rd, 2-5pm. The family has chosen a private burial.
