Eleanor M Vaughan

Atlantic Highlands – Eleanor M. Vaughan (Behrens), 94 of Atlantic Highlands, NJ entered into eternal life Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at her residence.  She was born in Jersey City and moved to Highlands in her senior year.  She graduated from Atlantic Highlands high school and began her career as a legal secretary working in New York City.  On February 8, 1953, she married the love of her life Herbert Vaughan and lived in Atlantic Highlands the rest of her life.

As a child, Eleanor was very active playing a variety of sports and taking dance lessons for 13 years.  She was invited to dance with the Radio City Rockettes but chose to get married and start a family.  She was a very active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church until it closed and then became an active member 

Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Harbert Vaughan,parents Walter and Eleanor Behrens, a sister Dorothy Van Kirk, and two brothers Walter Behrens and Charles Behrens.  She is survived by her 3 sons: Rpbert W. Vaughan and his wife Diane of Aurora, Colorado, Allen J. Vaughan and his wife Linda of Titusville, Florida, Edward D. Vaughan and his wife, Vicki of Senoia, Georgia., and her daughter, Eleanor Tamburella and husband, Paul of Middletown, N. J. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren; Steven, Kristy, Michael, Danielle, William, Thomas, Cory, Nicole, PJ & Casey and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM from ALL Saints Memorial Episcopal Church at 202 Navesink Avenue, Navesink, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to Posten-McGinley Funeral Home, 59 Lincoln Avenue at Central & E. Garfield Avenue Atlantic Highlands Friday, 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to All Saints Memorial Episcopal Church.  Interment will be at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet, New Jersey.
