Lynda Scarlino (Passaro) Obituary

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Lynda Scarlino, on July 24,

2025, at her family ‘s home in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.

Lynda was born on May 12, 1935 in New York City. There, she attended Rhodes Preparatory School and

Marymount High School. She later attended New York University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in

Drama and Dramatics. She also studied Early Childhood Education at Bank Street College of Education.

Lynda moved to California to pursue a successful professional acting career which included roles in Six Feet

Under, The Gilmore Girls, The Inner Circle and Everybody Hates Chris. She was also successful at improv,

comedy, voice acting, theater, and film. She was a member of Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of

Television and Radio Artists for more than 58 years.

Lynda was also a passionate advocate for at-risk children, adolescents, and families. She was the Program Director

at Crittenton Services, an institution offering behavioral health care, safe shelter, and support to those in need. There

Lynda was lauded for her unflagging dedication to her clients, her ability to connect with all, regardless of their

backgrounds, and her generous, loving nature. Lynda bridged language barriers with song, art, gestures, and her

smile. She was a respected leader who inspired others to face challenges and always remain focused on the children.

Lynda had most recently resided in Long Beach, California with her beloved rescue Beagle, Mikey. She was an

animal lover and pet adoption advocate.

She was predeceased by her parents Josephine and Arthur Scarlino, and survived by her sister Jacqueline Passaro;

her nephew Jimmy, his beloved wife Lynn; their children Ronnie, Rachael, and Jessica, along with their spouses all

from Atlantic, Highlands, New Jersey; and great great nephew Gus

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues, with special

thanks to Celeste Keith, Lynda’s lifelong friend, Lynn, and Micky. They all played a vital role in bringing Linda

home to her family to complete her life’s journey.

On a brighter note, Micky, who was first saved by Lynda through the Beagle Freedom Project, later provided

Lynda comfort, and has now been adopted again. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Beagle Freedom

Project. www.bfp.org
