Frederick “Fred” Katz, beloved, Brother, Son, and Uncle passed away on August 2,
2025 at the age of 95. Fred was born in Pennsylvania on May 9, 1930 to Bernard and
Rose Katz. They lived in Vineland and South Amboy New Jersey, before moving to
Highlands, NJ in 1947. The Katz family opened what would become a Highlands
landmark, Katz Confectionery, where Fred along with his brothers, Walter, Louis, and
Alvin Katz would greet customers for 60 years. Fred created many lifelong bonds with
customers, some of which he spoke to frequently up to the time of his passing. Fred
proudly served the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1951-1955. He
also dedicated his time to giving back to the community, he was a 20 year member and
President of the Highlands Lion Club and is a Lifetime Member of the Highlands First
Aid Squad. Fred is predeceased by his father Bernard and mother Rose Katz, his
brothers, Alvin, Louis and Walter Katz, and his sister, Evelyn Furman. Fred is survived
by his nieces and nephews, Evelyn, Joshua, Ryan, Annabelle, Declan, and Riley Clark,
Gail and Ginjer Doherty, Jeffrey Katz, Bruce, Neil and Gary Furman, Jack and Lorraine
Katz and many more nieces and nephews.A private funeral service will be held for the family.
On August 17, 2025 at 2 pm, the family will be receiving friends for a memorial celebration of life at the Highlands VFW Post 6902, 331 Bay Avenue Highlands, NJ.
