Anna Mary Mantani, 90, of West Brighton, Staten Island, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, with her family by her side, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ. She was born Anna Casucci on May 10, 1935, in Staten Island, NY.  Anna was the beloved widow of Gerard A Mantani (deceased January 1965) and George P Mantani (deceased November 2007).  Together, Anna and George were proud parents of Christina Mantani and Anna Lynn (Mantani) LaRochelle. A graduate of Curtis High School, she began her career at NY Telephone and became a homeowner, which brought her pride and comfort throughout her life.  After welcoming her daughters, Anna became a Bookkeeper for JC Penney & Co on Staten Island, where she retired in 1998. She enjoyed “putting on shows,” dancing, playing pool, solving crossword puzzles and word searches, playing slot machines in AC and Las Vegas, and card games (making up rules in her later years).  She was active member for many years, including leadership roles, in the Mothers’ Guild at Sacred Heart School, and later, the Anderson Neighborhood Senior Center on SI.  Anna was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, West Brighton. Throughout her 90 years, Our Lady of Mt Carmel was her protector, as she miraculously survived Scarlet Fever, a ruptured appendix, four different cancers, and a failing heart valve. Her faith never faltered and she was grateful for her blessings. Predeceased by many of her loved ones, including her son-in-law, Mark LaRochelle, Anna is lovingly survived by her daughters, Christina and Anna Lynn; her step-daughter, Karen Lee Lioi; her grandchildren, Christian Lioi, Allison LaRochelle, Salvatore Ligotti, Anthony Ligotti, Samantha LaRochelle, Melissa LaRochelle, and Marina Ligotti; her brother, Carmine Casucci; her sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Joseph Peters; and generations of nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes RC Church , 103 Center Ave, Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716, on Tuesday, May 27, at 11 AM.
