Matthew “Matty” Devine passed away unexpectedly on May 7, 2025.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, and raised in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, Matt was a true city kid who spent his childhood summers in Highlands, NJ. Those cherished days on Gravelly Point Road left such a mark on him that he eventually made Highlands his permanent home, creating a warm and loving place for his children to grow up. A devoted father, he built a life centered around his family and making fun memories with them.

Matt worked as a manager at Xerox Business Services and was a lifelong music lover. He found pure joy dancing the hustle at Paradise Garage and brought that same energy to every celebration as DJ Sounds Devine, lighting up the room with music and spirit.

The youngest of six siblings, Matt was known for his generosity, humor, and big heart. He shared a lifelong bond with his only surviving brother—a relationship full of love, laughter, and deep connection.

Above all, Matt’s greatest joy came from his family—his daughter Stephanie, his son Devin, and his beloved granddaughter Freya, who was the light of his life. His ex-wife Laurie remained a cherished friend and an important presence in his life.

He will be deeply missed by his children, his brother, and many aunts, uncles, cousins,countless friends and his pup Lincolnwhose lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and unwavering spirit.
