Obituary of Darren H Rotsma

The Rotsma family is heartbroken to announce the sudden passings of Colleen and Darren.

 
Colleen died unexpectedly in her home in Point Pleasant, NJ on Friday, January 3, 2025. Colleen was a cashier at Stop & Shop for many years. She was a sweet soul who lived her life in quiet comfort. 

Darren died unexpectedly in his home in Barnegat, NJ on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Following in his father's footsteps, he was a proud tug boat captain and was employed by Donlon Marine Co., Inc. for the past 18 years. He loved his family, friends and fast cars. He was a proud cat dad and made sure the feral or stray cats at the dock had food and water. 

Colleen and Darren were predeceased by their father, Herm "Tiny" Rotsma, sister, Debra Rotsma, and aunts, Lillian "Honey" Montalbano and Nancy Hartsgrove. Surviving is their mom who raised them, Vera Rotsma (Hartsgrove); brothers, Scott and Tom; sister in law, Kelly; nieces and nephew Kaila, Lindsay, Jason and Rylee; cousin, Joe Montalbano; and several Hartsgrove aunts, uncles and cousins. Darren also leaves behind his best friends Sal and Mike who he loved very much.

 
A memorial service honoring the lives of Darren and Colleen will be held at Posten-McGinley, on Friday, April 18, 2025 from 3:00pm to 6:00 p.m. Burial at Bayview Cemetery, a/k/a The Green Light, will be private at a date to be determined.
