Lynne A. Dempsey Obituary

MIDDLETOWN - It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Lynne A. Dempsey, 70, who passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025. Lynne spent much of her childhood in Highlands, NJ, where she graduated from Henry Hudson Regional High School and the Bryman School. Since 1989, she called Atlantic Highlands her home. Lynne was married to Charles Ashare, affectionately known as Chuck or Cholly to those who loved him, until his passing in 2006. She dedicated 37 years of service to American Airlines, a career that allowed her to travel extensively and explore the world. Lynne will be remembered for many things, including her love of dogs and her thoughtful tradition of gifting National Geographic calendars to her family each Christmas. Reflecting on her life, she recently said, "I've had a great, fun life."

Lynne was predeceased by her parents, Rowland and Joan Dempsey; her brother Blaine; sister-in-law Vicky Conard Dempsey; and sister Amy Manning. She is survived by her siblings: Barbara (Raymond Belicose), Susan (Skip Bott), Sandy (Harry Pontecorvo), Mary Lou (Wayne Hancock), Merrilee (Michael Cosenza), and TR (Barbara Shannon); and brother-in-law Bob Manning. She also leaves behind 17 nieces and nephews and 19 great-nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of Lynne's life will be held at a later date, and done in a way she would have wanted.
