Catherine "Cathy" Halsted was born on Sept 4th, 1931, in Tokyo, Japan. Her life was filled with ups and downs, starting with living in Tokyo during WW II. She married Richard J Halsted in Aug of 1954 and moved to the United States in May of 1955 while seven months pregnant. Her 1st child Richard was born in July of 1955. Her 2nd child Janice was born in 1957.

By 1963 she was working in NYC in the fashion industry. She would continue in fashion for nearly 50 years. During that time she went to Fashion Institute of Technology and became a pattern maker and learned the art of designing. She loved evening gowns and worked for AJ Bari for many years.

Besides fashion, Cathy loved working in her garden growing beautiful flowers. She also loved, later in life, going on cruises, with her son Richie.

At the age of 89 she had a setback, a stroke which left her partially paralyzed. With the help of Pearl Rehab and sheer stubbornness and grit, she learned how to walk again and continued to go on cruises.

She went on her final cruise in Sept of 2022 with her whole family. Two weeks later her son Richie suddenly suffered a heart attack and died. She was truly devastated and slowly started to decline.

She is survived by her daughter Janice and her beloved Golden Retriever "Paige".

There will be no viewing and her remains will float out to sea with her son Richie in Bermuda. It was their best place to cruise, and they loved it there.

When you get that chance, hug that special person tight. You never know when it will be the last time.
